NOWZ “Like Ohtani… We Will Hit a Proper ‘Homerun'”

“What does a ‘homerun’ mean to NOWZ? Perhaps winning first place on a music show is the closest meaning. Even if these promotions aren’t a grand slam, I hope it becomes the first proper ‘homerun’ our team has ever hit. Haha.”

NOWZ’ Hyeonbin said in a recent interview, “The new song ‘Homerun’ is about the expectations of youth who try to turn even an uncertain future into an opportunity.” He added, “Although we made a high-speed comeback in just four months, I have high expectations because I think it will be a special album that can show a new side of NOWZ that we haven’t shown before.”

This album contains a total of three songs: the title track ‘Homerun’, the old-school hip-hop based ‘GET BUCK’, and the lyrical ‘In a World Without a Name’. The title track ‘Homerun’ is an EDM dance song characterized by a heavy drop and intense rapping, capturing the challenge of youth creating opportunities even in the face of an uncertain future.

Regarding the reason for choosing baseball as the main concept, Hyeonbin said, “The refreshing and hip-hop energy of baseball matched NOWZ’ color well,” and “We wanted to try a new combination that we haven’t shown before.” Baseball, the central concept of this promotion, is also in line with the image of growth that NOWZ pursues. Yeonwoo compared himself to a pitcher who controls the team’s flow, and Yoon said, “I want to be like a batter who hits a big one.” Hyeonbin compared himself to an outfielder, explaining, “The need to have a broad perspective as a leader is similar.” Yeonwoo, known as ‘Cube’s Ohtani,’ said, “I saw a video of player Ohtani picking up trash after games, and I’ve been influenced by many aspects of him since then. Just like Ohtani, who skillfully manages the flow of the game, I want to be that kind of presence for our team.”

They shared that the members’ teamwork grew even stronger during the album preparation process. Yeonwoo emphasized, “Thanks to the time we’ve spent together, our chemistry has naturally aligned,” adding, “Teamwork is NOWZ’ greatest strength.” The team’s musical versatility to handle various genres was also cited as a strength. Siyun said, “The ability to handle rock, hip-hop, and EDM without being confined to a single genre is NOWZ’ unique charm.”

NOWZ’ third single ‘PLAY BALL’, featuring the new song ‘Homerun’, will be released today (the 26th) at 6 PM.
